Our Group Chief Information Officer (GCIO) organisation plays a critical role for the bank. This team partners with the businesses to build the platforms, systems, and products that our customers use every day. We keep people’s money and data safe and are at the forefront of driving innovation for our businesses, customers, and colleagues.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Chief Information Officer for HSBC Indonesia.

Responsibilities:

The role holder will lead all Technology teams in HSBC Indonesia, accountable to the HSBC Indonesia Board on all matters related to Technology. S/he needs to collaborate closely with GB/GFs and IT Personnel to implement IT goals in the Market, policy, expense, and regulatory constraints, in line with the technology strategy, priorities and budgets. They must strengthen the oversight and streamline governance between Local & Regional teams, both Business & Technology and work closely with all business lines and build strong relationships with senior leaders to provide essential support on matters relating to relevant regulatory and board relationships within the Market.

This role will carry out the following activities:

IT Service Provision within Indonesia

  • Partnering and advising Business heads and their Management Teams on technology decisions.
  • Accountable for the delivery of IT Services in Indonesia.
  • Accountable for the shaping, evaluation, and value assessment of the overall Change Portfolio for Indonesia
  • Leading a team of IT specialists
  • Ensure Indonesia IT teams apply Group Standards
  • Ensure Operational Risks and Controls are implemented and effective
  • Drive innovation from a technological perspective within Indonesia
  • Oversee system security and ensure that Indonesia is not exposed to critical risks from an IT point of view
  • Record, build remediation plans and organize appropriate governance
  • Ensure that all technology decisions align to appropriate governance and architecture Standards
  • Review and maintain all systems to HSBC standards
  • Finance and planning leads to budget for information technology needs and monitor/maintain this budget
  • Establish relevant metrics to facilitate reporting and decision making
  • Understand the local regulatory restrictions including the need for onshore systems due to personal data laws in country

Partnership with Business lines

  • Understanding the business and technology strategy
  • Translating the business strategy into an IT strategy that enables business to realize its objectives
  • Cultivate and maintain the relationship between business and IT
  • Advise the business heads on all technology related matters
  • Partner with business, Business managers, Global Asset class IT heads and Regional

Partnership with Asia and Middle East International Markets CIO Management

  • Consulted on matters relating to relevant regulatory and Board relationships at regional level
  • Consulted on execution of GB/GF strategy at Indonesia level
  • Responsible for collaborating with peer Market Heads, GB/GF Business, and other senior IT Personnel to implement GB/GF goals in Indonesia, Policy expense and regulatory constraints, in line with Technology strategy, priorities and budgets
  • Responsible for leading and influencing the GB/GF IT Teams to meet functional goals in the Indonesia and oversee delivery of the portfolio to time, cost, and quality targets
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Indonesia demand is captured and effectively prioritized within the GB/GF global portfolio
  • Responsible for coordinating all Indonesia input into the annual planning cycle
  • Responsible for governing all GB/GF programmes implemented for Indonesia (not part of global/regional rollouts) ensuring the status and impacts to time, cost and quality are reported into Asia & Middle East International Markets CIO
  • Responsible for delivery of GB/GF IT Transformation, Agile and DevOps adoption in Indonesia to realise savings as per targets in partnership with GB/GF Business
  • Responsible for successful delivery of key GB/GF change programmes in Indonesia
  • Responsible for ensuring deliverables are supportive and in compliance with Regional and GB/GF target state architecture.
  • Responsible for coordinating regional activities required to mitigate service issues impacting Indonesia.
  • Responsible for service performance of end-to-end services delivered within Indonesia (e.g., service SLA, MTTR, etc.)
  • Consulted on delivery status of overall service/application health for Indonesia owned applications, and expert advice provided/facilitated from wider GB/GF as necessary
  • Consulted on status of issues relating to critical IT incidents for Indonesia owned applications, and expert advice provided/facilitated from wider GB/GF as necessary
  • Consulted on problem management and root cause analysis related to Indonesia Owned Applications where applicable, and expert advice provided/facilitated from wider GB/GF as necessary

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely, suitable for all levels across the HSBC group. Gravitas and ability to interact with and coach senior executives.
  • Outstanding relationship management and influencing skills.

Functional Knowledge

  • Practical experience in the leadership and management of an engineering function most focused on the delivery of operations technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to influence, lead and drive teams to deliver. Demonstrate good judgement and a high level of communication skills to achieve effective stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of technology and technology trends, and the ability to provide technology consultancy to senior business heads
  • Experience in planning and managing significant expenditure in a complex organization.
  • Ability to work in a complex, matrix organization.

Others

  • Ability to balance the needs of the business, technology, Group, and staff
  • Successful relationship management including senior stakeholder management and regulators
  • Strong communicator with the ability to adapt delivery as appropriate for various audiences
