Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems/Equipment Manager to oversee the electrical systems and equipment for a major project development involving photovoltaic (PV) power plants, conventional power plants, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission and distribution (T&D), subsea power transmission, micro/smart grid, and HVAC/DC systems. The role requires a deep understanding of high voltage systems, renewable energy integration, storage solutions, and subsea power transmission to drive the success of major infrastructure development projects. The ideal candidate will help ensure technical solutions and design for hybrid power systems are efficient and effective. The candidate will lead / actively contribute to FEED, EPC selection, construction, operation, maintenance, and renewal of electrical systems, contributing to the overall success of clean and renewable energy projects.
I) Key Responsibilities:
Project Phases:
Lead the design and integration of hybrid electrical systems for PV power plants, Conventional power, BESS, T&D networks, and subsea power transmission.
- Conceptual Study: Conduct initial assessments and develop conceptual designs.
- Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies: Perform detailed analyses to evaluate project viability, including technical, economic, and environmental aspects.
- Front-End Engineering Design (FEED): Develop detailed engineering designs and specifications for project execution.
- EPC Selection: Participate in the selection process for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors, ensuring compliance with Indonesian and Singapore regulations
- Installation and Commissioning: Oversee the installation and commissioning of systems, ensuring adherence to project plans and regulatory standards
- Operation and Maintenance (O&M): Develop and implement O&M strategies to ensure the reliability and efficiency of systems.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams (civil, mechanical, controls) to ensure electrical systems are optimized and aligned with project goals.
Management of Electrical Equipment and Subsystems:
- Oversee the selection, procurement, and installation of key electrical equipment, including transformers, inverters, switchgear, HVDC/HVAC systems, Shunt reactors & RCS, ESS equipment, and subsea cables.
- Ensure proper coordination for the installation of high voltage and subsea transmission systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with technical standards.
- Manage the integration of energy storage solutions into power plants, ensuring that BESS systems support grid stability, optimization, and dispatch ability of power.
- Supervise the technical evaluation, testing, and commissioning of all electrical equipment.
Project Development and Execution:
- Lead the planning and execution of electrical system components for major energy infrastructure projects from concept through to commissioning.
- Ensure electrical system designs adhere to budget, schedule, and quality standards, including managing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and milestones, ensuring all electrical systems are designed and implemented on time and within budget.
- Provide technical oversight and troubleshooting during the construction and commissioning phases.
Grid Integration and Optimization:
- Develop and implement strategies for the integration of PV power, BESS, and subsea transmission systems with the grid, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead efforts to optimize the electrical systems for grid stability, voltage regulation, and power quality in both AC and DC networks.
- Manage the interconnection process with utilities, ensuring compliance with national grid codes and local regulations.
Subsea Power Transmission and HVAC/DC Systems:
- Oversee the design, installation, and operation of subsea power transmission systems, including HVDC and HVAC solutions for offshore power generation and subsea cable systems.
- Work closely with subsea contractors and engineers to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transmission of power from offshore generation systems to onshore grids or energy storage facilities.
- Manage the challenges associated with subsea power systems, including cable protection, fault detection, and power loss mitigation..
II) Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Major Power Systems) or related field.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) or similar certification preferred.
- Certifications in power systems, renewable energy, or grid operations are a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Electrical Systems and its design.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power generation, and grid infrastructure.
- Proficiency in CAD software and electrical design tools.
- Proven experience with grid codes (Indonesia and Singapore), interconnection standards, and regulations (e.g., IEEE, IEC, local utility codes).
- Familiarity with power system analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD) is plus.
- Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, EMS (Energy Management Systems), and communication protocols for grid operations (e.g., IEC 61850).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
