FPGA Engineer
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated FPGA Engineer to join our team developing advanced camera systems for military applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in FPGA design, digital signal processing (DSP), and embedded systems within the defense and aerospace industry. You will work closely with a cross-functional team to design, implement, and optimize FPGA-based solutions for cutting-edge camera technologies used in various military operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- FPGA Design and Development: Design, implement, and test FPGA-based solutions for image processing, video encoding/decoding, signal processing, and other key functions in military-grade camera systems.
- System Integration: Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and system architects to ensure seamless integration of FPGA designs with other system components.
- Optimization: Work on optimizing FPGA designs for performance, power, and resource utilization, ensuring the highest reliability and performance in demanding military environments.
- Testing & Validation: Develop testbenches, perform simulation, and assist in hardware validation to ensure the FPGA design meets all functional and performance requirements.
- Troubleshooting: Identify, debug, and resolve issues in FPGA designs during development and post-deployment.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed design documentation, including specifications, design reviews, and testing procedures, adhering to industry standards and military requirements
- Collaboration: Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and support for integration into larger military camera systems.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- FPGA Development: Proficiency in VHDL/Verilog, Xilinx or Intel (Altera) FPGA toolchains, and experience with high-level synthesis tools.
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP): Strong understanding of DSP techniques and their application in image processing, video compression, and other military camera functions.
- Fluent in use oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analysis instruments
- Embedded Systems: Knowledge of embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and interfacing FPGA designs with processors (e.g., ARM, PowerPC).
- Experience in Military or Aerospace Environments: Familiarity with defense industry standards and protocols (e.g., MIL-STD, DO-254) is highly desirable.
- Debugging and Testing: Proficient with debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and simulation tools (ModelSim, Vivado, etc.).
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on complex systems under tight deadlines.
- Security Clearance: Eligibility for obtaining a security clearance may be required for this role.
Desired Experience:
- Experience with camera sensor interfaces (e.g., CSI-2, LVDS) and image processing pipelines.
- Familiarity with military communications standards, encryption, and secure data handling.
- Previous experience in developing solutions for high-reliability or mission-critical systems.
