Job Description:
Process soils and/or rock samples, perform core logging and routine testing, data recording, data processing, and assist the project lead by company procedures, health and safety and quality policies.
Performs consolidation, stress path, cyclic and dynamic tests without supervision, using advanced computer control programs. Also recording data in electronic format and entering it into a computer; also able to perform all the more basic testing; may go as a laboratory technician on offshore investigations.
Assist in developing new working practices and methods to improve the efficiency and quality of core logging, and standard testing.
Assist in the processing, presenting and checking of test results.
Perform other more basic testing in the laboratory as and when required
Requirement:
Degree or equivalent qualification in Geotechnical/Civil engineering or a relevant scientific or numerical subject .
Minimum 5 years of work experience in a geotechnical laboratory setting or more than 8 years if the highest education is a vocational high school or a diploma.
Experience in performing classification and standard testing equipment (consolidation, stress path, triaxial).
Proficient in verbal and written English.
Experience in using geotechnical software to process the data.
Good knowledge of standard testing (ASTM, ISO, BS, etc).
Experience in implementing ISO 17025 in the laboratory is an advantage.
