Job Description
Cloudetica Solutions is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead our engineering function. You will define our technology roadmap tailored to our existing and upcoming projects, architect robust systems on AWS, and foster a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement. This is a full‑time, contract-based position, reporting to the Managing Director, with flexibility for remote work.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Define & evolve the overall technology strategy and architecture for Cloudetica Solutions' projects, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Own the design of scalable, secure, and cost‑effective AWS‑based platforms, leveraging services like DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, ECS/EKS, and CloudFormation.
- Drive key technical decisions: languages, frameworks, tooling, and infrastructure patterns.
Team Management & Growth
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor engineers across frontend, backend, DevOps, and QA disciplines.
- Establish clear career paths, performance goals, and regular feedback cycles.
- Nurture a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Delivery & Quality
- Implement standardized CI/CD pipelines and quality gates (unit tests, integration tests, code reviews).
- Oversee sprint planning, capacity management, and delivery tracking; champion Agile best practices.
- Ensure high availability and resilience through monitoring, observability, and incident response processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, UX/UI, and Client Success to translate customer needs into technical requirements and roadmaps.
- Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to executive stakeholders and clients.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to plan budgets, headcount, and vendor engagements.
Qualifications Required
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven track record architecting and scaling web applications on AWS.
- Deep knowledge of modern web technologies (React, Typescript, Node.js) and backend frameworks.
- Strong expertise in designing microservices or serverless architectures.
- Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to influence across all levels of an organization.
Preferred
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional).
- Experience scaling engineering teams from 5 to 50+ engineers.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2) and security best practices.
- Background in startups or high‑growth environments.
- Knowledge of data engineering or machine learning infrastructure.
Format of Work

- Location: Remote‑friendly but based in Indonesia, willing to adapt to client hours for meetings (our clients are based globally, including in the United States and Europe)

Interview Process
- HR Screening (30 min): Discuss background, role expectations, and cultural fit.
- Technical Leadership Interview (45 min): Deep dive into past architecture decisions, AWS design patterns, and system trade‑offs.– Scenario: Design a multi‑region, highly available API backend with real‑time data ingestion.
- Team Management & Culture Fit (45 min):
– Behavioral cases: handling underperforming team members, scaling processes, and conflict resolution.
– Discussion of leadership style and values.
- Technical Case Study Presentation (60 min total)
– You’ll prepare a short presentation (15–20 min) on a chosen past project—covering requirements, design, challenges, and outcomes.
– Q&A with the engineering team on implementation details.
- Final Executive Round (45 min)
– Conversation with the Managing Director on strategic vision, budget planning, and how engineering priorities align with company goals.
– Review compensation, benefits, and the first‑90‑day success plan.
- Offer & Onboarding Discussion
