1. What You Need to Know
- You need to understand the rules for managing hazardous waste in Indonesia, like PP 22/2021 and Permen LH 6/2021. You also need to know how to fill out permits and use online systems like Festronik or SPEED.
- You should be able to tell if waste is dangerous — for example, if it’s toxic, flammable, or corrosive. Each waste type has its own code, and you need to know these codes.
- You must know how to store waste safely. That means using the right containers, adding labels, and making sure the storage area (TPS LB3) follows safety rules.
- In case of a spill or fire, you need to know what to do and how to use safety equipment like fire extinguishers and spill kits.
- You also need to know the different ways to treat or dispose of waste — like burning, solidifying, or sending it to a landfill.
- Finally, you should keep records of all waste activity and report it regularly to the government.
2. Skills You Should Have
- You should be able to keep the storage area clean, safe, and organized.
- You must know how to handle chemicals safely using PPE (like gloves, masks, or goggles).
- You should know how to use basic tools or equipment to check the condition of the waste or water system (WWTP).
- You may also help manage waste transport — like scheduling pickups and tracking where the waste goes.
- If there's an emergency (like a spill), you should know how to respond quickly and safely.
3. Important Attitudes and Behaviors
- You need to pay attention to details to avoid mistakes.
- You must be able to talk clearly with your supervisor and team.
- Working well with others is important, especially with safety and operations teams.
- You should care about protecting the environment and reducing waste.
- Always be honest and follow the rules when handling waste.
4. Certificates You Need (2024)
If you work with hazardous waste, you need a certificate from BNSP.
- Level 3 is for operators or field workers.
- Level 4–5 is for team leaders or supervisors.
- Level 6 is for managers.
You can get these certificates from training centers approved by BNSP.
