Scope of Work
Background
Save the Children is a leading, private child-focused non-governmental alliance of 30-member organizations that works in 120 countries throughout the world. Save the Children has worked in Indonesia since 1976 to promote health and nutrition, education, child protection, livelihoods, and emergency preparedness and response. Our ambition for children will focus on inspiring three specific breakthroughs for children by 2030 are SURVIVE; No child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday, LEARN; all children learn from a quality basic education and BE PROTECTED; violence against children is no longer tolerated.
Save the Children supported by Global CSV Hyundai Continue currently implementing the Circular Economy Program in DKI Jakarta area. This program focuses on managing plastic waste in 20 schools and 4 RPTRAs in DKI Jakarta. We will be shifting the power to children to lead and develop their own campaign on plastic waste management around school and RPTRA area. We are targeting children 12 to 17 years old as child campaigners. The project has been implemented from August 2022 and now will be extended to July 2024. We will directly reach 14,800 people (students and children in RPTRA) and reach indirectly 1,500,000 people through social media to improve their awareness of plastic waste management.
To enhance public awareness and practices through child led campaign on plastic waste management, we will build upon the impact of this child participation model to deliver wider programming in each area, which work across all levels of society, reaching every key influencer in a children’s life. Together we will deliver measurable improvements to children and communities’ awareness and practices through 3 core outcomes:
- Improved awareness and knowledge on plastic waste management issues among school members, communities in RPTRA, and the public in the target campaign area (Awareness).
- Increased practices to reduce the worst impact of plastic waste through children's initiatives on plastic waste management campaign (Engagement/Public Mobilization).
- Engaged with local government to influence the child-sensitive governance related with plastic waste management policies through children's dialogue (Advocacy)
This Program will be implemented in 20 schools and 4 RPTRAs across North and South Jakarta from August 2024 to December 2025. To support this program, we need 1 (one) project external collaborator to implement project activities.
Objectives
The objectives of this activity are:
- Support Program Manager and Program Coordinator in implementing of all activities of the Circular Economy Program in the targeted area (North and South Jakarta).
- Involved in developing the project workplan, working closely with the partners in the targeted school and community, such: children, youth, School Management, RPTRA management, local community, the Youth/Children Forum.
- To organize, mobilize, and facilitate training, workshop, or other events involving those partners; also coordinate with the local government authorities, potentially collaborate with other organization or institution and project implementing partner.
- Report directly to the Program Coordinator and closely coordinate with other project teams in Greater Jakarta area as well as with support function team, such as finance, administration, and supply chain team.
Scope of Work
Specific responsibilities include:
- In coordination with Project Coordinator, Program Manager, and Implementing Partners, ensure that project activities are implemented according to the agreed detailed implementation plan.
- In cooperation with Project Coordinator, and Program Manager to maintain effective relationships with government and non-government stakeholders.
- Regularly collect data according to the project monitoring and evaluation plan.
- In collaboration with Project Coordinator, and Program Manager to ensure that the child safeguarding policy is understood and implemented by all stakeholders.
- Develop monthly basis report and send it to the Project Coordinator, and Program Manager.
- Conduct regular visits to program implementation areas, gather learning and feedback to inform discourse and plans for the project, the local government, and related stakeholders.
Deliverables
- Activity report, which may include but not limited to activity TORs, delivery of training, campaign, workshop, FGDs and stakeholder meeting meetings, meeting notes, during the period of contract.
- Power Point Monthly report.
Required Background and Experience, Skills, and Behaviours
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline, including social science, environment, natural resources management/sustainability.
- Experience in both private and non-profit sector on circular economy principles and their application across Indonesia will be an advantage.
- Experience of working in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
- Recommended a minimum of 3 years’ experience in of program related in facilitating children or students.
- Experience working with an international NGO or similar organization.
- Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken Indonesian, strong English written and spoken skills.
- Commitment to and understanding of Yayasan Save the Children Indonesia’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to write high quality reports and other project documents in Indonesian and English.
