The Role
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic English Teacher to conduct personalized 1-on-1 and small group lessons with students from elementary to high school.
- For elementary classes, For elementary classes, deliver hands-on, interactive English lessons for younger students. Where needed, lessons may also integrate basic Math and Science concepts to create engaging, well-rounded learning experiences.
- For middle and high school students, lessons focus primarily on English. Lessons are mostly for native English speakers, emphasizing literature, writing, analysis, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging 1-on-1 and small group lessons tailored to each student’s needs and learning style.
- Integrate English with basic Math and Science for younger students, or focus purely on English where needed.
- For older students, teach English at native-speaker level, including literature analysis, essay writing, and critical thinking.
- Track and assess student progress, adjusting lesson plans accordingly.
- Communicate effectively with the A for Effort team to ensure lesson quality and consistency.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and structured learning environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or related field (Master’s degree a plus).
- Native or near-native English proficiency.
- Strong background in teaching English at a high academic level; comfortable with international school curricula (IB, IGCSE, AP).
- For elementary: ability to teach integrated lessons including basic Math and Science in English.
- Passion for teaching and inspiring students; patient, adaptable, and organized.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching/tutoring experience preferred.
