Job Overview

The Scaffolding Senior Superintendent position demands a comprehensive understanding of Scaffolding principles, leadership in workforce management, and familiarity with a broad range of disciplines including compliance, risk management, and logistics. The Scaffolding Senior Superintendent must leverage extensive industry experience to enhance productivity, mentor others, influence company-wide processes and policies for workforce management, and resolve multifaceted technical, operational, and organizational issues that affect project delivery and success. 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Oversee the scaffolding operations within the fabrication department, ensuring that all scaffolding structures are designed, erected, maintained, and dismantled safely and in accordance with project requirements
• Implement and rigorously enforce safety standards and best practices for scaffolding activities, including compliance with OSHA regulations and industry guidelines
• Coordinate scaffolding plans with project management, ensuring that scaffold structures support the needs of various trades and do not impede construction timelines
• Supervise teams of scaffolders, providing clear guidance and oversight to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to engineering specifications
• Manage the inventory of scaffolding materials and equipment, ensuring that adequate supplies are available for current and future projects while maintaining cost efficiency
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of scaffold structures to ensure stability, safety, and compliance with design plans
• Provide training and development opportunities for scaffolding personnel to ensure a skilled and knowledgeable workforce
• Communicate effectively with other department heads, clients, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth operation and resolution of any scaffolding-related issues 
• Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
• Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
• Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams

Essential Qualifications and Education

• Technical diploma or certification in Scaffolding, Construction Management, or a related field, with extensive knowledge of scaffolding systems and applications in an industrial fabrication setting
• Proven experience in scaffolding within a heavy industrial or construction environment, with a demonstrated history of supervisory or management roles
• In-depth understanding of scaffold design, load capacities, and erection/dismantling procedures, with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency
• A solid commitment to safety, with experience in developing and enforcing scaffolding safety protocols and conducting risk assessments
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train, mentor, and motivate scaffolding crews
• Organizational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality
• Strong communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating with various departments and conveying technical information to non-specialist audiences
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of the job, including the willingness to work in various conditions and adjust work hours as necessary
