About the role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Liven, you will take ownership of our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD systems, and deployment automation. You’ll play a key role in evolving our DevOps practices, improving our reliability, scalability, and developer experience. This is a strategic and hands-on role, where you’ll work closely with product and engineering teams to deliver secure, efficient, and resilient systems.
What you'll do
- Infrastructure Ownership: Manage and scale our GCP and AWS environments, ensuring uptime, reliability, and performance.
- DevOps Leadership: Lead the evolution of our CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, BuildKit) to support rapid and safe deployments.
- Automation & IaC: Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to enable consistent and repeatable infrastructure deployments.
- Containerisation: Architect and manage Kubernetes clusters and containerised applications.
- Monitoring & Incident Response: Implement observability tools (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch) and lead incident response and root cause analysis.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce best practices in cloud security, access control, and infrastructure governance.
- Team Enablement: Work closely with engineers to streamline local and production development environments, helping them ship with confidence.
- Cost & Performance Optimisation: Continuously analyse systems for efficiency gains, cost savings, and improved scalability.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or related fields.
- Strong proficiency with AWS and/or GCP, including managing production workloads.
- Expertise in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code and automation.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and Docker.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD workflows and tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab, BuildKit).
- Proficiency in scripting with Python, TypeScript, or shell.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as Datadog and CloudWatch.
- Strong grasp of DevSecOps principles, infrastructure security, and least privilege models.
- Practical experience working in Linux environments.
- Proven ability to optimise systems for cost, scalability, and performance.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a passion for enabling team productivity.
Good to Have
- Experience managing hybrid cloud environments or cloud migrations.
- Familiarity with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
- Exposure to distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- Contributions to open-source DevOps tools or communities.
