Job Overview:
The Civil Engineer applies their conceptual knowledge of civil and, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward civil problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures and building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Civil Engineer understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Perform FEED, Studies, and calculations on more complex and demanding engineering tasks
- Apply knowledge and skills to complete varied assignments
- Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses, including design reports and procedures with related Disciplines as required
- Prioritize and organize own work to meet deadlines
- Focus on developing Yard Capital Expenditure, Operation Expenditure and Work Pack proposal and complete work within budget and timeline with related Disciplines and with high safety, quality and ethical practice
- Communicate and explain information in straightforward engineering activities
- Gain familiarity with the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements, including identifying concerns as early as practicable
- Initiate interface with other disciplines to obtain input for discipline designs
- Assist in the preparation of specifications with guidance from Requestor and related Disciplines
- Perform engineering check of drafting with related Disciplines
- Prepare & review MTOs and estimation for work required by related Disciplines
- Provide engineering support as required on site for Site Facilities team
- Assist in the preparation of subcontract documents such as Scope of Work, Technical Bid Evaluation and other documents as required with related Disciplines
- Coordinate and manage local and oversea Subcontractor or Vendor works from technical, safety, quality and time aspect to meet the Project requirements
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in Structural / Civil Engineering with min. GPA 3.0
- 3-8 years of experience in the building or heavy construction company which provides new or repair jetty or skidway or workshop or warehouse or office building construction work.
- Eager to learn, energic and good attitude
- Fluent in English both oral and written. Able to communicate in Mandarin would be an advantage
- HSE, TQM, Work Ethic and cost-conscious
- Familiar with the use of construction codes and standards
- Familiar with the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable. Knowledge of many basic design techniques and analysis methods
- Able to use MS office, 2D AutoCAD, able to operate other engineering software would be an advantage
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of a professional engineering society as applicable
