The Weda Bay Nickel mine, located on the island of Halmahera in northeast Indonesia, recently went into production in 2019. As part of a partnership with the Chinese steel group Tsingshan, the world’s leading producer of stainless steel and the majority shareholder of PT Weda Bay Nickel, Eramet brings its technical and operational expertise on the mining operations.
FMS Mine Project Engineer W/M
Responsibilities :
• System Implementation & Integration
- Project management with planning, scheduling and reports
- Deploy and improve FMS tools to support haulage and mine productivity monitoring (including dispatching, cycle time, availability, and location tracking).
- Coordinate FMS data integration with short- and medium-term mine planning, logistics, stockpile management, and quality control.
- Ensure proper configuration and maintenance of hardware and software systems on-site.
• Operational Coordination & Execution
- Support daily and weekly dispatching of haulage and mining equipment using FMS tools.
- Monitor equipment KPIs (availability, utilization, productivity, delay causes) and support field teams in corrective actions.
- Supervise haul road and infrastructure data inputs (width, condition, traffic flow, congestion points).
• Performance Analysis & Business Intelligence
- Analyze FMS and field data to generate operational dashboards and performance reports (productivity, downtime, SM/Fe deviations...).
- Support the development of GIS-based productivity maps and digital field audit tools.
- Conduct Pareto analysis and performance reviews with operations and contractors.
• Continuous Improvement & Project Management
- Participate in improvement projects aimed at reducing delays, enhancing dispatch efficiency, or improving haul road design.
- Lead initiatives linked to Integrated Remote Operating Center (drones, BI tools, etc.).
- Support the creation and maintenance of SOPs, visual management routines, and site-wide best practices.
• Cross-functional Coordination
- Interface with mine operations, planning, engineering, quality control, logistics, and commercial teams (including FeNi and IWIP).
- Ensure alignment between FMS data, mine production reports, survey volumes, and reconciliation metrics.
About you:
• Master’s or Engineering degree in Mining, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in mining operations or engineering, including exposure to FMS or dispatching systems.
• Experience in continuous improvement, project management, or mine productivity optimization.
• Prior experience in a multicultural and multi-contractor mining environment is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with FMS systems (e.g., Wenco, Modular, Hexagon, Jigsaw, etc.)
• Experience with GIS, dashboards (Power BI, Tableau), and database tools.
• Understanding of short- and medium-term mine planning concepts.
• Knowledge of equipment performance metrics and mining productivity levers.
• Strong Excel, data modeling, and reporting capabilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Field presence and collaboration with operators and supervisors.
• Project management and stakeholder coordination.
• Proactive and structured communicator.
• Autonomy and adaptability in remote site conditions.
• Fluent English required.
