GOVERNMENT RELATIONS MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION:
YOUR ROLE AS A:
The Government Relations Manager manages and strengthens AirAsia's relationships with government stakeholders at national and regional levels, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, securing incentives, influencing policy developments, and supporting route development and operational continuity in Indonesia and international markets.
WHAT YOU’LL CHAMPION:
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
Build and maintain strong relationships with key government agencies, ministries (e.g., Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Finance, Parliament), regulators, and aviation authorities.
Represent the airline in government-related forums, consultations, and working groups.
Advocate for airline interests in policy discussions and influence outcomes in alignment with business objectives.
Regulatory Monitoring & Intelligence
Monitor, analyze, and report on national and international aviation and tourism policy changes, regulations, and emerging issues affecting the airline.
Provide timely internal updates and impact assessments of regulatory developments.
Policy Support & Strategic Recommendations
Prepare policy briefs, position papers, and recommendations to address regulatory barriers (e.g., double taxation, fuel surcharge policies, import duties for spare parts).
Work with internal teams (Legal, Commercial, Finance, Network Planning) to ensure business strategies are compliant and aligned with regulatory expectations.
Event & Delegation Coordination
Facilitate meetings between airline leadership and high-level government officials, including preparing agendas, talking points, and briefing materials.
Support the organization of inaugural flights, diplomatic visits, and route launch ceremonies in collaboration with airport and government agencies, as well as stakeholders.
Documentation & Correspondence
Draft formal correspondence with government institutions (e.g., letters, permits, follow-ups).
Maintain records of regulatory communications and approvals.
WHO YOU ARE:
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, International Relations, or related fields (Master’s degree is an advantage).
Minimum 5 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or regulatory roles, preferably in aviation, transport, or multinational companies.
Strong understanding of the Indonesian regulatory framework, especially related to aviation, tourism, and transportation.
Proven experience dealing with high-level government officials and policy advocacy.
Skills and Competencies
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Bahasa Indonesia and English).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
High integrity and ability to handle sensitive information.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
Adaptability in handling crisis situations and political sensitivities.
