Position Overview
The Resort Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall daily operations of the resort, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, efficient management of staff, and smooth coordination across departments. This role requires a balance of strong leadership, cultural sensitivity, and hospitality expertise to maintain the resort’s reputation, while contributing to the development of sustainable tourism in Sumba Tengah.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service
- Ensure the highest standards of service quality, hospitality, and guest satisfaction.
- Manage guest relations, handle special requests, and resolve complaints professionally.
- Oversee resort activities, wellness programs, dining services, and cultural experiences to deliver memorable stays.
Operations & Administration
- Lead day-to-day resort operations across front office, housekeeping, F&B, maintenance, and recreation.
- Monitor budgets, expenses, and revenue to achieve financial targets.
- Supervise reservation systems, room allocations, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and manage resort staff, with emphasis on developing local talent from Sumba.
- Create a positive work culture, motivating staff to deliver excellent service.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and staff training sessions.
Community & Sustainability Engagement
- Build positive relationships with local communities, suppliers, and authorities.
- Promote sustainable practices in operations (waste management, energy efficiency, local sourcing).
- Collaborate with local artisans and farmers to integrate Sumba’s culture into the guest experience.
Sales, Marketing & Guest Relations
- Work with the sales and marketing team to promote the resort both locally and internationally.
- Support social media, branding, and online reputation management.
- Develop guest loyalty programs and return-guest engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Tourism Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in resort/hotel management, preferably in luxury or boutique properties.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia (knowledge of local Sumbanese language is a plus).
- Ability to adapt in a remote island environment with cultural sensitivity.
- Financial management and reporting skills.
