The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled AS400 Software Engineer to provide technical support and maintenance for the Credit Card System operating on the AS400 platform. You'll work with legacy systems using programming languages such as COBOL and CL, focusing on system stability, performance optimization, and implementing enhancements to meet business needs.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for the Credit Card System running on AS400
- Maintain and enhance existing applications developed in COBOL, CL, and other relevant languages
- Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand system requirements and implement modifications
- Perform system backups, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
- Assist in system upgrades, patches, and migrations as required
- Document system configurations, processes, and support procedures
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate AS400 applications with other enterprise systems
- Stay updated on AS400 platform developments and best practices
What are we looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Strong understanding of AS400 system architecture, security, and performance tuning
- Experience with system backups, disaster recovery, and data management
- Knowledge of modern development tools and version control systems
- Experience in application modernization or migration projects is a plus
- Basic understanding of related enterprise systems and databases
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
