Job Role:
The Contract Commercial Manager within the Carrier Network Business Group supports the telecommunications business unit with a strong focus on commercial and legal contract governance throughout the project lifecycle. This role is responsible for leading the end-to-end contract process—from preparation, review, and risk assessment to negotiation and handover—ensuring compliance with both commercial strategy and legal standards.
Acting as a key advisor to Project Managers and Directors, the Contract Commercial Manager identifies potential contractual risks, develops mitigation strategies, and ensures clear transfer of responsibilities, rights, and assumptions during project execution. The role also oversees commercial content in bids and tenders, prepares contract management guides, and plays a critical part in shaping Huawei’s contract conventions, with an emphasis on supporting complex telecommunication projects and ensuring operational excellence through solid legal and commercial practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Development and Management
- Lead the full contract lifecycle process including generation, review, modification, and consolidation.
- Ensure the quality and consistency of contract practices across projects.
- Drive continuous improvement in contract management standards and templates.
- Oversee the output of contract management guides and transaction conventions for the account.
- Commercial and Legal
- Support bidding and tender processes by managing commercial and legal content.
- Provide legal and commercial consultation to Project Managers and Directors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure contract alignment with telecommunications industry standards and internal compliance.
- Lead preparation of contract solutions tailored to project and client requirements.
- Risk Identification and Mitigation
- Proactively identify commercial and legal risks in contract clauses and project agreements.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and ensure implementation of resolutions.
- Disclose and escalate potential risks with clarity and accountability.
- Conduct regular contract risk scanning for key accounts and update relevant stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Oversee the contract handover process, ensuring full transfer of responsibilities, rights, risks, and assumptions.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment by sharing essential contract information with delivery, legal, and project teams.
Candidate Requirements:
- Education: at least Bachelor Degree in Law.
- Years of Experience: at least 5 years of experience in Legal, specializing in Contract Management, supporting projects from bidding and tendering, to delivery and closure.
- Industry Expertise: multinational or large enterprises, preferably from the same industry (IT/ICT/Telecommunication).
- Language: English (professional fluency in spoken and written).
- Technical Expertise: having strong knowledge in Commercial and/or Business Law, and able to provide consultation to Project Manager and Project Director throughout the Legal and Commercial aspects.
- Preferred Expertise: experienced handling multiple commercial telecommunication projects.
- Personal Qualities: strong communication, negotiation, presentation, networking, collaboration, and interpersonal skills - ability to build relationships of trust with a wide range of individuals and organizations.
