We are seeking a talented individual to join our Energy and Power Practice team at Marsh. This role will be based in Singapore, or elsewhere in Asia. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. The Power Risk Engineer will work closely with the Global Energy Risk Engineering (GERE) Asia Practice Leader and the Energy and Power Practice to provide risk engineering services for the Power portfolio, with a focus on renewable energy projects.
We will count on you to:
- Plan and execute insurance underwriting surveys for Renewable Power clients and prospects in Asia. The work will require planning the survey and travel, leading the survey team which may include underwriter engineers and producing the Underwriting survey reports to the required deadlines. The work will involve up to 80-90 days overseas travel per year. The work will cover Operational Power and Power Construction Projects, emphasis on Renewable Power such as wind power (both off and onshore), PV solar, BESS, hydroelectric, geothermal, CCS plans and etc.
- Similarly, to support Power Risk Engineering for Conventional Power clients as and when necessary.
- Support the Power Practice for insurance underwriting surveys outside Asia, GERE and Global Renewable Energy Technical Network (GRETN).
- Conduct Risk Management surveys for clients e.g. multi-national renewable power companies.
- Provide technical support to clients and prospects as and when required such as attending client meetings, and seminars and insurance roadshows. For large clients this will require planning and management of the annual survey plan.
- Support the Renewable Power Practice for developing Deep Dive Reviews, Loss Estimations for topics related to Technology Selection, Asset Integrity/Inspection, Maintenance, Operations and Process Safety Management.
- Provide support to the Asia Power Practice with collection of risk engineering fees.
- Support the Claims Practice as required/appropriate.
- Attend technical seminars, conferences for Renewable Power, Marsh Power risk engineering seminars and GERE team meetings to maintain and develop technical competences.
- Support developing thought leadership products such as Position Papers and contributions to the GERE and GRETN Loss Control Newsletter.
- Provide ongoing support and development of GERE and GRETN technical methods and tools such as the Marsh Risk Ranking tool.
- Identify and deliver business development opportunities such as consultancy work for clients and prospects e.g. Power Deep Dive, Loss Estimation, Enterprise Risk Management workshops.
- Support the Energy and Power Practices for tender proposals for clients and prospects.
What you need to have:
- 5 to 10 years of experience in the Power Generation or Power Construction industry, preferably with a focus on Renewable Energy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.
