We are currently looking for Project Field Officer Agroforestry, full-time, based in Rantauprapat – Labuhanbatu, North Sumatera to support the implementation of Biodiverse and Inclusive Palm in North Sumatra.
The Biodiverse and Inclusive Palm Project.
The Biodiverse and Inclusive Palm in North Sumatra (BIPOSC) project encourages sustainable practices in the palm oil supply chain by enhancing the capacity of smallholder farmers and strengthening the institutional framework of farmers association, in District Labuhanbatu.
Through capacity building and technical assistance, we promote the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices that will improve soil health, preserve biodiversity, and better water resource management. Moreover, we encourage the Agroforestry Model that integrated the palm oil plant with local commodity to improve farmer livelihood, Biposc has to develop the agroforestry systems for palm oil which will be follow by the numbers of farmers who will adopt the agroforestry models, maintain the 20 hectare of demonstration plot, nurseries, non palm oil agroforestry in the buffer zone, as well as the management of watershed in the farmers plots, in order to educate the farmers who has the plot in the riverbank , by implementing integrated strategies, that would provide ecological, economic and social benefit.

Job Description
The Agroforestry Project Field officer works to ensure the (quality of the) field implementation service delivery to the farmers community.
S/he is responsible for providing guidance and support on Agroforestry practices, implementation, and adoption. This role involves collaborating with farmers, community groups, partners, and organizations to promote sustainable land management and enhance soil and biodiversity quality.
Key responsibilities:
- To provide capacity building to the 2500 targeted of smallholders palm oil farmers and villages facilitators, farmer champions hub, in order for them to adopt agroforestry practices for environmental purposes and to make their income resilient.
- To provide technical assistance in setting up and maintaining demonstration plots to exemplify sustainable agroforestry practices, particularly on palm oil agroforestry.
- To support the development of context-specific modules and trainer guide (Palm oil in district Labuhanbatu - North Sumatera) by offering technical guidance that reflects local conditions and practices
- To provide hands-on technical support to farmers and community members through regular field visits and demonstrations.
- To set up guidance in developing a framework to monitor the implementation and adoption of regenerative agroforestry practices in palm oil commodities.
- To assist and maintain the 5 models of agroforestry palm oil model that has recommended by project
- To assist, advice and support the 250 ha of agroforestry palm oil adoption by farmers
- To provide the valuation economic of the agroforestry palm oil, the integration of palm oil with the local chosen commodity.
- To establish the demo plot of palm oil in the riverbank, including SOP of maintaining the agroforestry in the riverbank
- To recommend the Agroforestry models in the village where located in the buffer zone area
- To establish the watershed management demo plot in the river bank plot , and to ensure the farmers who have a plots in the riverbank adopt the proper watershed management
- To work together with expert or consultant of watershed management and agroforestry models.
- To support M and E activities in data collection and assuring data quality
- To contribute the Agroforestry report development in a regular basis
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Agroforestry, Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
- At least 5 years of professional experience in agroforestry or related fields, including project implementation and community engagement
- Proven experience in working with rural farming communities, especially on sustainable land-use practices
- Competence in designing and delivering training modules for farmers and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with watershed management, and their integration into agroforestry initiatives.
- Willingness to travel frequently to rural and remote project sites in District Labuhanbatu.
- Proficiency in English both writing and speaking
- Teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work with team, and independently, and manage multiple priorities effectively

Contract Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension
