The purpose of this position:
Supervisors in the Acid Plant (Sulfuric Acid Plant), Effluent Treatment Plant & STG areas are responsible for supervising several Team leaders and their operator members in safely achieving daily production activities in plant areas related to handling gas offtake from the smelter (Gas Cleaning Plant), sulfuric acid plant (Acid Plant), Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).
The supervisor will focus on daily tactical operations, ensuring the safe execution of tasks and optimizing processes, working closely with internal leadership and the Technical Service team. The Shift Supervisor is also responsible for tactical coordination with other sections within the plant (Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Process Control, etc.)
The key duties and responsibilities of this position:
Occupational Safety and Environmental Aspects:
- Responsible for the safety of all team members under his/her supervision. Responsible for the safety of everyone working within his/her supervisory area.
- Control the daily operations of the plant consistent with meeting all environmental regulations and commitments.
- Proactively lead the team to safely achieve production targets by implementing all relevant Safety and Environmental programs, including Fatal Risk management (FRM).
- Provide Safety briefing (safety talk) before starting work for both process members, maintenance, or subcontractors (general labor).
- Lead his team in identifying hazards, establishing risk controls, and ensuring effective implementation of critical controls in the field.
- Ensure his/her team members follow the SOPs for each job. The Shift Supervisor proactively evaluates the SOPs and becomes a conduit of information if there are any SOP deficiencies identified by his/her team members.
- Contribute his skills to the multidisciplinary team in implementing risk controls that have been analyzed through HIRADC and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Check and assess work permits and work orders. Responsible for work permits and work orders that have been given to workers.
- Contribute skills in workplace accident investigation and root-cause analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to interact positively with operators, mechanics, and technicians, during field safety verification and responsible for stopping work if hazards or damage have not been controlled.
- Prepare a work shift report, which includes safety and environmental aspects.
- Patrol factory areas with maintenance or repair activities
- Check the completeness and feasibility of safety equipment for both personal and production units.
- Together with the Team Leader, maintain the cleanliness, tidiness, and comfort of the work area in the factory
Operational Aspects
- Lead the smooth operation of the Sulfuric Acid Plant, Effluent Treatment Plant, and Steam Turbine Generator in its working shifts according to the set production and quality targets.
- Make Shift work reports regarding production results, working field conditions, both conditions of Factory Equipment, Factory Environmental Quality, and Work Safety.
- Lead meetings between work shifts.
- Provide explanations or directions and work orders to all members of his/her work shift every time he/she starts work.
- Communication with relevant departments in accordance with existing tasks and needs, namely Smelter, Refinery, Maintenance, Logistics, Technical Servise Engineer and Environment.
- Check shift operational log sheets, stock chemicals, and samples.
- Supervise and Monitor the loading of Sulfuric Acid Products on Ships and Trucks.
- Patrol the factory area of the Acid Plant, Effluent Treatment Plant, and Steam Turbine Generator.
- Performance Evaluation of Production Equipment for improved performance and efficiency.
- Provide coaching, and increase knowledge or skills to members of the work shift, in collaboration with the Technical service engineer and HR department through their respective managers.
- Provide employee performance appraisals for group shifts as an annual performance evaluation.
- Submit the Work Shift Report to the Shift Superintendent and Section Manager during the morning meeting.
- Provide shift production reports to the Shift Superintendent and Section Manager.
Maintenance & Inspection
- Evaluate the performance of process equipment with the support and collaboration of the Technical Service Engineer for the Acid plant to prepare a work plan for repairing production unit machinery, procuring spare parts, maintenance labor, and sub-contractors.
- Provide Technical Explanation of Work with the support and collaboration of the Acid Plant Technical Service Engineer regarding existing problems and solutions as well as Work Orders to Maintenance and SubContractors who will carry out repair or Inspection work.
- Evaluate the results of plant equipment inspection reports with the Acid Plant Engineer.
- Inspect and monitor repair work in the field.

The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are :
Education, Certifications, and Experience:
- High school graduate and more than 10 years of experience in leading operational workers in chemical treatment and wastewater treatment plants.
OR
- Diploma (D-I, D-II, or D-III) in engineering, especially chemical engineering, and more than 5 years of experience in leading operational workers in chemical treatment and wastewater treatment plants.
OR
- Bachelor's degree (S1) in technical field and more than 3 years of experience in leading operational workers in chemical treatment and wastewater treatment plants.
- Pengawas Operasional Pratama (POP) is highly preferred.
Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Characters)
Operational and/or technical experience and knowledge of safe and efficient operations for the following:
- Gas Cleaning Plant (GCP): Quenching towers, Scrubbers, ID Fans, Electrostatic precipitators, Packed Gas Cooling Tower, and Fluorine Tower
- Acid Section: Absorption towers, Centrifugal pumps, Main Gas Blower, Steam Drums, Boiler, Heat exchanger, and Storage tanks.
- Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP): Reactor, Thickener, Filter Press, Wheel Loader, Evaporator, and Crystallizer.
- Steam Turbine Generator operation.
- Experience working in operations following integrated planning standards (operations/maintenance planning and scheduling) and routines.
- Experience in safe practices for managing and handling high-temperature and liquid metal processes.
- Proven experience in managing field operations workers, by creating and maintaining an appropriate work culture that is disciplined on safety, environment, and pursuit of excellence.
- Able to communicate English (reading, writing, and verbal) well.
- Possess persuasive skills to influence parties outside of direct supervision.
- Experience with Indonesian Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations for mineral/metal processing as appropriate.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
- Familiarity with MS Office and other reporting systems.
- Skilled in following safety and hazard recognition practices.
